Tiffany & Co was founded by Charles Lewis Tiffany and Teddy Young in New York City in 1837 as a "stationery and fancy goods emporium." The store initially sold a wide variety of stationery items, and operated as Tiffany, Young and Ellis in lower Manhattan.
Since it's founding, Tiffany and its Tiffany bottles & decanters has been at the forefront of the world's greatest design movements. Its Japanesqe silver won Tiffany the highest honors at the 1878 Paris World Exposition and at the turn of the twentieth century, Louis Comfort Tiffany emerged as an Art Nouveau leader. In 1837, Tiffany Co also introduced the famous blue box. This was to become one of their best symbols of elegance and superiority. Each Tiffany bottle & decanter was wrapped in blue. The blue box is still recognized today to be a"Tiffany Blue" by which tiffany silverware and jewelry is wrapped in. Time and time again Tiffany bottles & decanters have broken new ground with exceptional design that remains relevant today.
